ChemLogix has deep roots in the chemical logistics industry that extend back to its affiliation with GATX Corporation and the former Chemical Leaman Tank Lines.
In 1997, Chemical Leaman launched the company as Leaman Logistics in response to a growing need for logistics and supply chain services in the chemical market. When Apollo Management LP acquired Chemical Leaman in 1998, Leaman Logistics was sold to GATX Corporation, one of the world’s largest providers of transportation assets in the bulk commodities markets.
In January 2001, GATX sold a majority interest to the management team of Leaman Logistics, which included president and CEO Steve Hamilton, whose years of service within the chemical industry would greatly benefit the new organization.
ChemLogix LLC was born out of that transaction and has steadily built its base of services and customers to position itself in the chemical markets as a leading provider of supply chain and logistics services.
As a limited liability corporation, ChemLogix is not publicly traded, nor are its financial results available. Since 2001, ChemLogix’s staff has grown to more than forty employees with established offices in three locations: Blue Bell, PA (headquarters); Naperville, IL; and Houston, TX (the heart of the chemical market). ChemLogix bought out GATX's share in December, 2007.
